This post contains the prompt tables for my claims (if accepted) at 10_hurt_comfort. All these fics - ficlets, probably - will be unbetaed for reasons of time and spontaneity; all mistakes are mine :) It's an exercise in inspiration. I hope. :D

| FIC: Food for Thought (Blake's 7) |
[Oct. 14th, 2008|02:10 am] |
Going to bed now, but...wanted to post the next 'speed fic' before I retire ('cos it doesn't count unless I do it all in one sitting! :D ) Another of the hurt/comfort fics, took maybe two and a half hours this time, written blind, went in a direction I totally wasn't expecting. Makes it rather inconsistent and disjointed, but the point of this exercise was no major edits, so...here 'tis. Writing from Avon's perspective for most of it was a little disturbing, even in this light context. The inside of his head is broken and creepy.
Title: Food for Thought (I was tempted to title it 'Tin Dog', but only Who fans would get it, lol) Prompt: 'Food poisoning' Characters: Avon and Vila Pairing: Ehhh...could be read as very light Avon/Vila but equally could pass as gen with some jocular slashy references. Rating: Say PG-13 for some cheeky conversation. Warnings: Well, it's largely about throwing up, so...nothing too gross or explicit, I think. Summary: Basically an Avon-and-Vila banter fic that turned a bit soppy. It doesn't have a plot. It's a BWP :) Banter Without Plot :)

| Picspam (may be of interest to B7 fans) |
[Oct. 12th, 2008|01:59 am] |
The following picspam features Stephen Greif - Travis 1, as he will be forever remembered, whether he likes it or not :D - in his first TV role. For anyone who has sensibly tuned out my wibbling about 70s sitcom 'Citizen Smith', here he plays the menacing, but adorably loopy, publican and gangster Harry Fenning. Harry is big, intimidating, and has an extremely unique sense of humour. He enjoys extortion, good brandy, musical fondue parties, and throwing people in ponds. Most of the pics feature Harry with Wolfie Smith, the show's main protagonist, leader of Marxist revolutionary cell the Tooting Popular Front (it's a popular front in Tooting). Pics chosen to be as unspoilery as possible :) ( Know what I mean, Trotsky? )
Spam ends (and off goes Stephen Greif to menace a completely different long-haired revolutionary).

| FIC: Monster Under the Bed (Blake's 7) |
[Oct. 10th, 2008|12:59 am] |
This was written for the 10_hurt_comfort prompt 'Monster Under the Bed'. Restriction was that the fic should be inspired by the prompt in some way, be in the hurt/comfort genre, and contain Travis. The idea for these fics (an additional, self-imposed challenge) is that they are written and posted in one sitting, with only brief, necessary editing. This one took about two hours, and it's 1am, so please forgive any remaining mistakes! :D
Title: Monster Under the Bed Fandom: Blake's 7 Characters: Servalan, Travis Pairings: None Chronology: Set during 'Seek-Locate-Destroy' Words: about 1750

| FIC: On the Up (Blake's 7, gen, PG) |
[Sep. 27th, 2008|12:32 am] |
Title: On the Up Genre: Humour, drama (mostly humour :) ) Type: S2 gen Characters: Avon and Vila, brief appearances by the others Warnings: None Summary: Blake sends Avon and Vila to steal a secret database from an associate of the Terra Nostra. Their glorious leader believes it'll be a doddle, but someone will have to pay the price for Blake's overconfidence...
Many thanks to vandonovan for a very swift, efficient, and constructive beta :) Any remaining mistakes are due to my being a numpty. This is my first fic in this fandom.

| FIC because I'm feeling brave... |
[Sep. 20th, 2008|12:27 am] |
I finally finished the first B7 one; it's being betaed by the charming vandonovan. This isn't it, therefore - it is in fact the Weyoun one I wrote a hundred years ago and was too embarrassed to post. Ahem. But it was JC's birthday a few days ago, and I just read a nice article about Weyoun, so...
Title: Who's for the Game? Characters: Dukat and Weyoun, cameo from Damar Rating: G Genre: Gen, character study Summary: Weyoun likes games, especially ones where Dukat doesn't understand the rules. Note: Title refers to this horrible war poem.

I couldn't think of a title :)
Sorry I've been a rubbish reader/commenter lately - I've vastly cut down my flist (communities, not people - except by accident! Sorry, galacticowl, I fixed it! If anyone else got deleted by accident, please let me know; I'm leaving this post public) to make it a bit easier to get through.
Finally got around to buying and posting Easter presents for the family. We don't really 'celebrate' Easter, as such, but it's a good enough reason to eat chocolate and sit around watching Scrubs :) The department is closed for five days including the weekend, which means no testing is allowed (for insurance reasons), which means three bonus days of not going in :) There'll still be work, but the at-home-with-a-drink variety. Little mini holiday! The undergrads, of course, get four weeks. Four weeks! Still, I wouldn't trade.
For any House fans, we watched the first episode. Maybe it was just because it was a neurology one, but we liked it. And their medical science, unlike most shows, seems pretty good (their neuroscience is, anyhow). |

| | cold | ] | Why yes, I should be doing more important things :D Instead I've spent a silly amount of time collecting and captioning late-season DS9 photos for amusement. Not exactly macros, but a series of captioned pictures under the cut (almost all of them featuring - you guessed it - Jeffrey Combs (points to icon)). Some funny, some I just thought were particularly nice shots. Includes the Pic Which Makes Me Emo :) Um - there are spoilers for late DS9 (last three seasons or so), if that bothers anyone ;)
I beg your indulgence...I can't find any nice, active Trek communities to play in! ;-; Maybe ten pics under the cut? ( my selection of entertaining and/or lovely DS9 pictures, let me show you it? ) |
